known almost before production. This contrasts sharply with the situation
of 100 years or more ago, when Britain produced most of the design and
worldwide manufacture. Now we have niche product from around the world,
including Australia, Brazil, Japan, - even the UK. Most of our product
is European and manufacturers are global conglomerates.
This does mean a bewildering amount of choice, especially with the increasing
use of Cylinder-based locks which provide much greater versatility for
Master Keying and keying-alike.
Even with the advent of electronic and biometric locking, most situations
will still require a basic quality mechanical key lock to satisfy both
security and Insurance needs.
